lactation consultant, breastfeeding support and ibclc consultant

Frequently asked questions

Does your private service replace NHS care?

No. Natures Way IBCLC provides independent infant-feeding and lactation support alongside your usual NHS or private healthcare.

I do not replace your midwife, health visitor, GP, paediatrician or other medical professionals.

Are you providing this service on behalf of the NHS?

No. Although I work within NHS maternity services as an Infant Feeding Lead Midwife, Natures Way IBCLC is my independent private practice and is not commissioned by or affiliated with my NHS employer.

Can you access my NHS records?

No. I will ask you to share relevant health, birth, weight and feeding information during your consultation.

With your consent, I can provide a written summary that you may share with your NHS healthcare professionals

Do you perform tongue-tie division?

No. My current private service includes feeding and oral-function assessment but does not include division.

Where appropriate, I can explain referral options and help you support feeding while awaiting further assessment or treatment.

Will my baby definitely be diagnosed with tongue-tie?

No. Many symptoms associated with tongue-tie can also have other causes.

My role is to assess the complete feeding picture, explain what I find and help you understand the available options.

Can you help if I am using formula?

Yes. I support breastfeeding, expressing, formula feeding, combination feeding and responsive bottle feeding without judgement.

Can you help me reduce formula top ups?

Yes, where it is safe and appropriate.

Any reduction should be based on your baby’s feeding effectiveness, milk production, weight, urine and stool output and relevant medical advice. We will create a personalised plan.

Can my partner attend?

Yes. Partners and other support people are encouraged to attend, particularly during pregnancy preparation and early postnatal consultations.

Are you available at night?

I am flexible, Yes if pre-arranged and in advance however no if you are requiring and using standard messaging support  that is non-urgent and is provided during my stated working hours.

For urgent concerns, contact your maternity unit, GP, NHS 111 or emergency services as appropriate.

Which areas do you visit?

Home visits are normally available across Rugby, Coventry, Nuneaton, Lutterworth, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Daventry, Warwickshire and surrounding areas.

Contact me before booking if you live outside the standard area.

Additional travel charges may apply.
