Meet Jas Malhi
NHS Infant Feeding Lead Midwife, Registered Midwife, IBCLC and Tongue-Tie Practitioner
Who Am I?
I have spent more than 12 years supporting women, babies and families across maternity services.
Alongside Natures Way IBCLC, I work within the NHS as an Infant Feeding Lead Midwife. My role includes improving infant-feeding care, educating maternity professionals, reviewing practice and helping services provide safer, more consistent and evidence-based support.
This means I understand both sides of the experience: skilled maternity professionals working in demanding services, and families who can still leave hospital feeling overwhelmed, uncertain or unsure where to find consistent help.
I created Natures Way IBCLC to give families something that busy services cannot always provide unrushed time, continuity and a feeding plan built around the individual parent and baby.

I look beyond the latch
Feeding support should never be reduced to repeatedly repositioning a baby without understanding why feeding is difficult.
I consider:
Your pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery.
Caesarean birth, blood loss, anaemia, pain or delayed milk production.
Your baby’s gestation, health, weight and early feeding history.
Positioning, attachment, sucking and milk transfer.
Breast and nipple comfort.
Expressing, formula supplementation and bottle-feeding technique.
Your baby’s tongue movement and wider oral function.
Your emotional wellbeing, previous experiences and personal feeding goals.
The support available around you.
This whole-picture approach helps us identify what needs attention now, what can be monitored and when another healthcare professional may need to be involved.

What makes my support different
Clinical expertise without losing compassion
I understand NHS maternity care and can help you make sense of the information and pathways available to you.
I am an IBCLC as well as a midwife, giving me specialist knowledge in complex breastfeeding and lactation care.
I am trained to assess tongue movement and oral function when restriction may be affecting feeding.
I allow enough time to observe, listen and understand rather than offering rushed or generic advice.
You will receive a clear written plan that is realistic for your life, health and feeding goals.
Breastfeeding, expressing, mixed feeding and bottle feeding are all supported without judgement.

Calm, honest support when you need it most
Parents often tell me that they feel calmer once somebody has listened to the full story and explained what is happening in a way that makes sense.
That is what I want every family to experience: not pressure to feed in one particular way, but expert support that helps you make informed decisions with confidence.
